We signed Ryver up for summer soccer this year. Wow, what an experience. The first practice he was pretty shy and didn't want to play, but he warmed up and participated. They played a game called bank robber. They would put their soccer balls in the middle and they they would run and try and kick a ball back to their cone. Ryver was devastated when someone kicked "his" ball. He came off the field crying and didn't want to go play. We finally convinced him to go back and play but he never did like that game the rest of the season. After that nobody dared take his ball.
Ryver's first game was against a team with one of his friend's from daycare, Lucas. Ryver actually was doing okay and kicked the ball away from Lucas. Ryver was pushed by Lucas and that was the end of Ryver kicking the ball for the rest of the season. We kept telling him it was okay to kick the ball and take it away from other players but he didn't want to. I think he was afraid it was "being mean" and he'd get in trouble. Both Scott and I, and his coach told him it was okay but he chose not kick the ball after that. Mind you we had 6 games left! He was a body on the field and would run back and forth and cheer his teammates on. He was a pretty good sport though.
I think all the kids enjoyed snack time during half time the most.
I know it looks like Ryver might me crying, but he only did that his first game! We bribed him with a snow cone after every game if he didn't cry or suck his thumb playing. Sad, right!
I intended to take a picture of just Ryver and his Coach but everyone else wanted in the picture.
Coach Shannee took the kids out for ice cream after their last game. Of course this is what Ryver remembers most.
